Interest in Psychology: Lauren developed her interest in psychology after working in a lab. She
saw how biological markers can connect to real experiences which made the field feel both
human and scientifically challenging.
Proudest Accomplishments: Lauren takes pride in earning a spot in the California All-State
Honor Band as well as an Honorable Mention at the LA County Science and Engineering Fair
for her autism heterozygote project.
Hobbies:Lauren spends most of her free time with music, either practicing bassoon or listening
to new pieces. She enjoys whisking matcha and reading a good book.
Favorite Memories from club: Her most memorable experience comes from helping members
strengthen their projects. Seeing everyone improve and achieve personal as well as collective
growth was rewarding.
Vice President
Interest in Psychology: Mark is interested in engaging with psychology because it provides
valuable insights into human behavior. Studying different regions of the brain and understanding
its contributions to human behavior and personalities compels him to conduct his own research.
Proudest Accomplishments: Mark takes pride in receiving recognition for the USMDO,
representing the top 25 percent of competitors nationwide. He also serves as HOSA’s literacy
ambassador.
Hobbies: When not at school, Mark enjoys playing basketball with friends and taking the time to
read a good book.
Favorite Memory: His favorite memory from the club was being able to give feedback and
guidance to other members. Creating a space where people feel supported and excited about
what they were building was a rewarding experience.
Director of Research and Education
Interest in Psychology: Chris Sun is interested in psychology because he finds
unraveling the mechanics behind human behavior to be incredibly rewarding and
interesting.
Proudest Accomplishments: Among the achievements that Chris is most proud of
includes placing 6th in the WGI finals for drum line, being involved in his community as
an Eagle Scout, and conducting research about biological conditions.
Hobbies: During his free time, Chris enjoys playing percussion, listening to music, and
spending time with his friends.
Favorite memory from the Psychology Research Group: As an active member of the
Psychology Research Group, Chris has participated in many research projects - his
research on Tay Sachs Disease being the most memorable.
